We're licensed. Insured. For your safety and peace of mind. |
This is Greg, he created this FUN company and the FUNNY name! He will be your person from beginning to completion. He's unique, and the best at communicating intentions, work plans, schedules, what happens; and when. If he hasn't provided all the information you need, just ask him.
PLUS, he has been on television! Yes, there is an HGTV episode where Greg and his team renovated a historic home in Des Plaines, Illinois; start to finish -- we have a copy of the episode on disk. You can be as informed as you like, or just write the checks as component tasks are completed, it's your choice. Greg was born in Harvard, Illinois and pretty much has lived and worked in McHenry County, Illinois most of his life. Married 34+ years to Suz (his best Friend). Loves being outside, golfing, fishing, and taking walks and bike rides with Suz. It's impossible to write here about his great personality -- but people love and trust him. The Company operates from their private residence outside Woodstock, Illinois. What makes us different is we don't have the huge overhead: all the vehicles are economical, the tools are all owned, and the Company has no debt. We work smart and very efficient, no short cuts! |
Once a project is completed, we ask our home owners to become a reference for us.

Received an emergency call mid-day Friday (Valentine's Day) while having lunch with Suz -- that's how we decided to celebrate the day. Water was running out of lower level finished ceiling. Lynn thought the chimney was leaking from snow accumulated on the roof, but within seconds, I realized the chimney was not leaking, there had to be a burst water line (hose bib). Talked Lynn through the process to turn the valves off in the utility room, she didn't know how to turn the water supply to the house off. We were over an hour away, but made an immediate bee-line to their house to render emergency assistance. Phoned Lynn from about five minutes away and inquired if the water had stopped running; and it had, so now we knew for sure it was a burst water line. An emergency cleanup guy (salesman) was just informing them they would be without water until Monday -- three days. I said "No, this is an emergency and I'll fix it." Located the line, cut the copper line, and installed a cap, turned the water on, and the house had water again, and no leaking and no moving to a hotel.
Lynn was thrilled that she had somebody to call in an emergency and was able to diagnose and resolve the problem FAST! We didn't get hand shakes when we left, we got hugs!
Back there Monday to assess the damage and provide an estimate to restore the living space to better than original.

Old Historical House, they wanted to convert one of the several stair cases into a first floor and second floor closet. We removed the over-100-year-old stairs (which we reused the treads for the finished floor in the second floor closet), constructed bearing walls, rebuilt the plaster walls, installed flooring (sub and finish) both locations, searched and located a 100+ year old door to match existing five panel Victorian (had to travel extensively to antique resellers), constructed a frame for the slab door, converted the latch mechanism from a skeleton key to a current day lockset. We removed the second floor existing door and reversed the swing; building a new frame; and we installed primed/painted drywall, finish trim including crown. Finished on time and on budget.
It's been such a pleasure to work with you. We've had some bad experiences with contractors, and it has been so nice to work with someone who is not only skilled, but professional, dependable, and honest. Thank you!

I've been working on their home since July, ranging from a resurface of the existing deck, to adding a closet to a storage room over the garage, installing a toilet, rebuilding a 30-year-old pressure-assist toilet, remove/replace a recessed ceiling light, and we are nearly finished with this project.
Here's text from an actual email from Lynn: I know it’s a bit disturbing to have an emotional attachment with an inanimate object……but I love our new toilet 🤗.

Recently moved in house, had a three page list ranging from new kitchen sink, faucet, disposal, hanging blinds, curtain rods, installing replacement switches and outlets, and running a new GFI outlet to the garage.
Thank you for everything!! Wishing you much success with Help Your Home!!

Recently purchased home, remodeled three bedrooms (remove carpet, install laminate flooring) remove/replace door casings, drywall repairs).
This is a representation of my second day on the project: Met the homeowner at the front door and they said, "come with me, I want you to see something." Obviously concerned, I followed them to the bedroom which I installed the new flooring the previous day. While standing in the room, they said, "look at this!" I looked, but had nothing to say for about one second. They immediately said, "it looks too nice!" My heart started beating again and the project was a huge success. This person doesn't want to provide a testimonial, so I re-created this event!

Finish basement, wet bar, full bathroom, recreation area.
Our neighbors, literally right next door had Greg and company doing their basement. One day, we talked with Greg outside and had him quote our basement too. The work was great, like really good! They entered the house through the basement window, so no muss no fuss in our space. Finished on time and within budget. Very happy with the work!

Second floor addition, bedrooms, full bathroom.
The job went as planned, and on time and budget. You know, you can't get along with everyone in your life, and well; he was one of those guys. I'm an electrical engineer, and good at my job. I wanted every detail of the project from the plans explained to me, so Greg did provide that service for a while. However, at a point, he indicated he didn't have time every day to explain the prints. He was polite, but I thought I was entitled to this service. Oh, we did a second-floor addition to our ranch-style house in Elmhurst, Illinois. It looks like it was always there!

Second floor addition, bedroom, study, four-seasons room, full bath.
We live in Elmhurst, Illinois; and loved our house, the schools, and the area. We contacted Greg and he helped us along. We met and discussed what we wanted. Greg returned with a design and estimate; we reviewed and changed it and came to a final decision on design and budget. Greg provided the architect to finalize the design-build design Greg presented with his estimate. The project was a second-floor addition over the entire house. Basically, it was a master bedroom, office, bathroom, and front (kind of like a three-seasons room) but over the front porch below. The project went exceptionally well. In fact it went so well we had Greg quote and finish our unfinished basement. He took care of all permits, inspections, scheduled subcontractors, and on top of all that -- he is very personable and talked with us each day about the progress of our project. We highly recommend him and his Company. Thanks!

Saved blown out garage walls, demo and finish basement.
My Wife and I purchased a very old house in downtown Crystal Lake, Illinois. We loved the location and house. The two car garage (or what appeared to be a two carriage garage) was leaning and the walls where they met the roof were bursting out (exaggeration). It looked at though it would implode. Called Greg, because he was local to our house and had good verbal references. Greg suggested we use large carriage-bolt like screw eyes, through steel plates and cabled side to side to both pull in the wall tops and roof rafters. This was incredible to watch, and it worked GREAT! After securing the walls, they installed what he called collar ties to secure the rafters and wall tops. While they were doing this project, I asked Greg if he'd be interested in doing a demo on the existing bad basement (old) and finish the basement. He quoted it, and moved directly from the garage to the basement. All work was completed as scheduled, on budget and on time. They jobsite was cleaned at the end of each work day and when they were completely finished, you'd never even know they were there. Very clean! They saved us over $35,000 on the garage by saving it and not rebuilding it. Thank You!

Installed pull-down attic stairs in garage ceiling.
We saw Greg's trucks in the neighborhood, had Company name, phone, and domain name on them --- not magnets -- but real decals. Did some digging, and found out they were a reputable place. All we really needed was some pull-down attic access stairs in the garage. We met, Greg quoted it on the spot, and we had it done within a few days. Clean workmanship, left the place very clean; it was obvious they took a great deal of pride in their work regardless of the size of the project.

Finish basement, wet bar, full bathroom, laundry, living area.
We received a post card in the mail from these guys in the third quarter of the year for a basement remodeling deal -- winter-time projects. We met with Greg, he designed drawings to finish our basement. Presented us with a detailed proposal, and we agreed to proceed. The really cool thing was that except for first thing in the morning, all the workers used the basement egress window to come and go -- no construction traffic in our home -- which we lived in. The project completed on time and on budget. We love the useable space in the basement. Greg was personable and listened to what we wanted to create. Thanks!

Gut rehab. Entire house, remove/replace second floor. Underpin basement foundation to support new load. Build three-story turret, three seasons room, pulled front stone walls with cables and steel to prevent from falling, complete interior remodel first floor and basement.
We purchased a very large old, abandoned house in rural McHenry County, Illinois. It was in bad shape, but previously it was said to be an old gangster hideout from the 1930s. It was on 12 acres with a pond, had an in-ground swimming pool. After spending extensive time with our Architects, we pursued a General Contractor with both the experience and personal skills we desired. We came across Greg's company, which was in Crystal Lake, Illinois; at the time. He looked at the extensive demolition and remodeling drawings, and all the cool things we wanted for our new cool house. After a day or so, he called and was beside himself. The project was far too extensive and had so many unknowns, he was unable to bid the project fairly. He suggested a "time and material" bid with a "not to exceed" amount. He indicated he would provide us details of ALL costs, labor, material, subcontractors; and not mark up anything. We agreed and contracted with him. The cool thing is, our remodel is the big one on his website with the stone exterior; catwalks, octagonal, three story turret, with the pointed roof. The project took about 18 months to complete, it was huge -- as you can see from the photos on the website. We found many cool things inside walls, all of which were given to us by Greg and company. To summarize: without Greg and his people, this project would have been impossible for us. Greg took care of all the General Contractor stuff, handled labor, material, subs, everything. He is a great communicator, very trustworthy, and because a valued Friend. Thank you Greg, you made us very happy!

Basement, first and second floor addition. Four seasons room first floor, bedrooms and bathroom second floor. Addition in photos.
We wanted to create a second floor master bedroom suite, modify an existing bathroom, have a large all-seasons room surrounded with windows, and a basement under the addition. Everything went great! Very professional, responsive, and listened to us! Greg and company were excellent! Our photos are on their website in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

Prior to moving into their new (very old home), complete time and material freshen up. Instructed per task, no scope; paid time and material.
Top notch Professionals! Greg kept everything on track and was great to work with. This is the contractor everyone needs when updating your home. Greg knew exactly what needed to be done and performed a great job on our kitchen and bathrooms. We got great quality work in a timely fashion (ALWAYS on time) and they were easy to work with. Thanks
